DON GILCHRIST, Managing Director has been in the building industry for over 20 years and a shareholder from the beginning. With this vested interest Don has grown JARD into a highly respected and sought after building company. Don’s meticulous care and attention to detail has been instilled in the apprentices and other staff members which has encouraged pride within the company and other trades that work with JARD. Don is trade certificate qualified and a registered master builder. Over the years Don has developed excellent and rewarding relationships with clients and building professionals in such a fashion that he is recognised within the industry and is highly respected for his honesty and integrity - something which is instilled in the company psyche. Don frequently liaises with architects, designers and specifiers to achieve the client’s desired outcome at no extra cost to the project, time wise or financially.
JARD Construction has recently won 2 gold awards in Sustainability and New Home Construction, at the Registered Master Builder House of the Year awards. This follows a bronze award in 2007 – JARD’s first year of entering the competition. All these Registered Master Builder Awards are given for excellence in workmanship, creativity and innovation. With our active approach to ‘green build’ and project sustainability, JARD has proven knowledge and systems in place to ensure all our construction sites are safer and healthier for employees, owner/occupiers and the environment in general.
Whilst initially focusing on residential housing, single and multilevel developments, JARD Construction established a niche clientele who demanded quality and durability in all aspects of the project. This extends into renovation, alteration and additions to existing properties with some care and thought required in marrying the old and new. The team at JARD are highly skilled and innovative in this field and are constantly looking to increase their knowledge and portfolio of works.
Working studiously behind the scenes is Office Administrator Jeannie Davis, recognised as an extremely capable and valuable component of the JARD Team, Jeannie correlates and processes a vast array of information, which is formulated efficiently into accounts and procedures. All documentation and systems are audited constantly by Jeannie and this is reflected in the day to day effortless running of the company.
ROSS KINGDOM, fellow Director and shareholder, offers a highly skilled and knowledgeable background in the painting industry, where Ross successfully runs and operates Kingdom Decorators Ltd. He has worked closely with leading manufacturers and developed strong working relationships with key personnel and technicians in the waterproofing membrane sector. Ross also contributes to the management and day to day running of JARD Construction with an equally strong sense of passion and integrity.
JARD Construction operates from its own office and warehouse premises on the North Shore, which is centrally located to the bulk of JARD’s work. Being able to secure and store the vast plant, machinery and materials has been an asset over the years when site security and space may have been a hindrance. Our site managers Mark Lummis and Carsten Paulsen are able to readily source equipment and or store materials, for future aspects of a job without compromising site safety or being affected by weather related issues.
JARD Construction’s policy of health, safety and industry knowledge is constantly under review, and being a member of Site Safe New Zealand all staff are required to attend appropriate meetings where and when available. Currently we have eight building staff and direct access to a further five, who have contracted to us over the last eighteen months. Alongside is our plumbing division JARD Plumbing and painting /finishing company Kingdom Decorators Ltd.
